Description

You see a man in his mid-twenties. Light brown hair and quick green eyes set in a tanned face. His clothes are neither opulent nor in the best condition, but he does not look like a beggar. A velvet-lined, embroidered shirt, well-fitted to his torso, covers his frame, clearly tailored with care. His belt, ornamented in pewter with the sigil of a wolf, carries a short dagger, its hilt inlaid with a thin line of silver but otherwise unremarkable. Dark linen trousers tuck into ankle high boots that seem well-kept. The third finger of his left hand bears a golden ring. The only other thing of note about him would be his accent, which marks him clearly as a foreigner.

Personality

Note: All of this information must be discovered IC, either through being told directly or discovering by observation. Fortunately, Sonen's a friendly guy, so just give him a hello, and he'll probably tell you more than he should.

Sonen of Rin-Kodon is a traveler from the far-off land of Ahneben, a lesser son of a well-known rin (family). His family's name means "Wolf," hence the graven image on his belt. His surname, though, is the only thing wolfish about him.

Having grown up with just enough money to be carefree, he can be a bit impulsive and naïve. His whole reason for travel, in fact, is because of a sudden fancy that took him shortly after his twenty-fourth birthday: he wanted to see different places, so he hopped aboard a strange ship and soon found himself miles, leagues, nations, possibly even worlds away from his home.

Along his travels, he's managed to pick up the native languages of the places he's traveled, to a certain extent. He still speaks haltingly at times, and at all times with a thick accent. He will also often switch into his native tongue if he's trying to remember the correct word (or if he's startled). If you ask, he might share a bit with you, but he's really trying his best to speak like everyone else.

It should also be noticed that non-human creatures are only known in legend in his homeland. While he's managed to get over the initial shock of seeing so many different furres, wyrmmes, gryffes, bugges, et al., he will for quite a while still be at least slightly unnerved by them, especially if he happens to be the only human present. Usually, however, his natural friendliness will help him be sociable, at least, and he has no trouble initiating conversation, even if he then must figure out how to understand and be understood.

Of note is the fact that, while he has learned to speak the strange tongue of those he has met, he still has very little clue how to read it. He has started receiving tutoring in language, but still has trouble when he's not in the midst of practice.

Sonen possesses no magical or otherwise extra-normal capabilities. As something like a noble, he did receive basic self-defense training, but he is by no means adept at combat. The dagger he carries at his hip is more often used for eating than for fighting, and was in fact a gift from his elder sister. He is not a coward, by any means, and will attempt to stand up for himself or others whom he perceives to be in trouble, but do not expect him to stick around if he sees a fight is far beyond his capabilities. For all his impulsiveness, he's no fool.
